Behind the Scenes: Collaborating to Win Business Attraction Projects
Attracting Business to Northeast Indiana
We often hear the question, " how do you attract business to Northeast Indiana?" This is the story I like to share in response.
It was late 2019, and I just landed in Dallas. As we taxied to the gate, I did what many people do, I turned on my phone and then checked emails and messages that I received during my flight from Fort Wayne.
A couple of notifications popped-up and, more notably, a voicemail. I quickly checked my voicemail. It was a site consultant I connected with during my first month of starting at the Northeast Indiana Regional Partnership. He was working on behalf of a company, and they had an interest in Northeast Indiana.
In fact, in the client’s initial site search, they targeted a couple of buildings in Allen County. He was also interested in seeing what else we have to offer in our region, and we were ready to deliver.
After issuing this project out to our 11-county region, we submitted five properties from four regional counties in Northeast Indiana. We had a lot to offer this client.
Ultimately, the company chose to go with a property in New Haven in Allen County, and Greater Fort Wayne Inc. was able to report another important victory to their business attraction efforts with The Harrington Project. For the Regional Partnership, we celebrated the power of collaboration to attract business to the region and lauded the overall impact this project will have for the region—20 jobs and $2.4 million dollars of investment.
