Chicago Tribune Features Northeast Indiana as a Fall Drive Destination
Northeast Indiana Recognized for Fall Foliage
Northeast Indiana is featured in the “6 Midwest road trips to feed your fix for fall colors” roundup in the Travel Section of the Chicago Tribune. The highly-anticipated annual piece, garnered through our national public relations work, highlights the best Midwest road trips for fall foliage and events, featuring communities in our region – Fort Wayne, Huntington and Roanoke - as Indiana’s premiere fall getaway.
As talent attraction becomes increasingly important for the region, the Northeast Indiana Regional Partnership is pitching quality of life stories to national media, through our national PR firm Development Counsellors International (DCI).
These authentic quality of life stories join an already extensive list of stories about industry and business climate in our region. As promoting quality of life becomes increasingly important, we look to our partners in tourism to share their extensive experience and knowledge in this area, and we are thankful to Visit Fort Wayne, Visit Huntington, Greater Fort Wayne Inc. and Huntington County Economic Development for their partnership on this piece.
The Regional Partnership's own President and CEO John Sampson wrote these words about the unique role tourism plays in talent attraction in a recent CEO Perspective:
“In the era of a national talent shortage, collaboration between economic developers and tourism pros has never been more important. Development Counsellors International stresses, “Don’t take tourism for granted.” DCI emphasizes that economic development organizations should partner with local tourism groups to ensure that visitors’ first-hand experiences showcase “what the locals do” so visitors can imagine themselves not just visiting but also living in the community. Again, it has never been more important than now to attract tourists as potential residents to our communities and give them an amazing impression of lake living, rural lifestyle, urban vibrancy and our passion for our communities.”
