Construction Publication Features Unique Regional Asset
Construction Dive Features Electric Works
Aligned with the Northeast Indiana Regional Partnership's strategy to secure positive national coverage of the region in top-tier business and industry media publications, we recently hosted journalist Jeff Steele as he visited Northeast Indiana to seek story ideas. Jeff Steele is a regular contributor to several media outlets, including Construction Dive and Forbes, and as a result of this trip, he published a story in Construction Dive titled “$286M renovation brings new life to century-old General Electric plant in Indiana.”
The article dives into the background of the GE campus and the history of the commercial space throughout the years. The piece focuses heavily on Electric Works as a unique asset in the region as well as the construction process, the hurdles involved to start construction and how the leaders are keeping the project moving forward on schedule while preserving historical aspects of the structures.
Highlights from the story include:
"Despite material shortages and design constraints, Weigand Construction and developer Ancora are reinvigorating the Fort Wayne GE campus with nods to the site's storied history."
"Fort Wayne-based Weigand Construction is serving as construction manager on the redevelopment of 10 existing West Campus buildings encompassing about 730,000 square feet, all on a fast-track schedule, said CEO Larry Weigand.”
We are grateful to several key organizations for their partnership in working with the journalist on this story, including Greater Fort Wayne Inc., Ancora and Weigand Construction. We believe opportunities exist for additional stories from this media visit and will watch closely for any future coverage.
