European American Investment Council Annual Conference Focused on Automotive Market
Fort Wayne Hosts High Profile Economic Development Conference
The conference, focused on the automotive industry and hosted at the Grand Wayne Convention Center, brought together more than 70 economic developers from around the United States as well as national site consultants and leaders from foreign-owned companies.
Indiana Secretary of Commerce Jim Schellinger and President and CEO of the Northeast Indiana Regional Partnership John Sampson kicked off the high-profile economic development conference. Subsequently, panel discussions and a keynote speaker from the Center for Automotive Research (CAR) reviewed current trends in the automotive industry and the business climate in the U.S. and European automotive market.
In addition to the annual conference, the EAIC brought a delegation of four European automotive suppliers to Northeast Indiana to tour the region. The delegation met with local community leaders and automotive champions. The mission of the trip was to both connect the participating European companies to potential U.S. business partners and to enable them to learn more about the local automotive industry, the business environment and assets of the respective communities the delegation visited.
The EAIC organization is the official European representative of selected U.S. cities, counties and chambers of commerce. Membership is by invitation only and the Northeast Indiana Regional Partnership was among the founding members in the State of Indiana. It is the mission of EAIC to promote transatlantic trade and investment. To that end, the EAIC bridges the gap between local and regional Economic Development Organizations (EDOs) and European investors searching for a location in the U.S.
As members of the EAIC, the Northeast Indiana Regional Partnership has participated in international sales missions to Germany and Poland over the past two years and has worked several attraction projects created by the EAIC.
