Fort Wayne Ranked No. 2 on CNBC’s List of Cities to Work Remotely

Availability of Space, Internet Play a Role in Ranking
In July, CNBC published the article, "The 15 best U.S. cities to work from home—depending on your current situation and job needs", and Fort Wayne was ranked No. 2 as a top city to work remotely.
Based on these two criteria—sufficient space and reliable internet—Grow, a business intelligence software, set out to determine the best cities in America for remote workers.
To do this, they looked at rental data from property listing service RentCafé and internet affordability data from ISP comparison and research site BroadbandNow. Using RentCafé’s data, they determined the average monthly rent and space, per tenant, for apartments in 113 of America’s largest cities. Those numbers were then weighed against those cities’ access to broadband internet for under $60 per month.
And, that's how Fort Wayne ranked in the second spot for the best city to live and work remotely. See the data yourself below.
Fort Wayne, Indiana
- Access to broadband for $60 or less: 85%
- Area per person: 592 square feet
- Rent per space per person: $537/month
- Average people per apartment: 1.5
