Lemonade Day Northeast Indiana: Serving Up Success One Glass at a Time
Teaching Kids the Power of Entrepreneurship
Entrepreneurship fuels economic growth. According to Entrepreneur.com, entrepreneurs spark innovation by increasing competition, contribute to advances in technology and expand the variety of goods and services offered in a market.
In Northeast Indiana, some of our region’s most successful enterprises and largest employers, including Steel Dynamics, Sweetwater Sound, Ash Brokerage, Do it Best and Fort Wayne Metals, were founded by homegrown entrepreneurs who are contributing in big ways to our regional economy and community development.
Recognizing the importance of entrepreneurship and innovation to our growing economy, several community organizations have teamed up to give students in Northeast Indiana the opportunity to learn at an early age what it will take for them to become the next big entrepreneurial success story through Lemonade Day Northeast Indiana.
Lemonade Day, hosted on May 19, is a free, community-wide initiative aimed at inspiring the next generation of entrepreneurs by teaching children how to start, own and operate their own business – a lemonade stand.
Lemonade Day allows students across the region to partner with a parent or mentor to build a business plan, create a budget, develop a product and more. With a helpful 14-lesson workbook, students are empowered to learn the important basics they will need to launch their business on Lemonade Day.
Students also get to keep the profits they earn on Lemonade Day! Perhaps one of the most valuable lessons taught is the principal of spending some, saving some and sharing some. Students are able to learn the importance of enjoying the fruits of their labor, saving up for future needs and giving back to the community.
Stop over to a local Lemonade Day stand on May 19 to buy some lemonade and support your local entrepreneurs!
