Northeast Indiana Issues Two Regional Projects

By: Sarah Rodriguez on December 1st, 2017

In October, the Business Development team issued two manufacturing-related projects. The impact of the combined projects includes a potential of 775 new jobs and more than $300 million in investment over eight years. These projects reinforce Northeast Indiana’s status as a leader in manufacturing. In fact, seven of the region’s 11 counties are in the top 5 percent of counties nationwide for manufacturing employment concentration according to IPFW's Community Research Institute.

One of the issued projects was a direct result of multiple encounters and relationship building with a nationally-recognized site selection company. The other was the result of a meeting that took place during the Regional Partnership’s October Major Market trip to the Greater Chicago area.

To compete for and win these projects, Northeast Indiana must have the available site and building inventory required, desired access to market, competitive local and state incentives and available skilled labor.

These projects have contributed to a strong end to the year for the Regional Partnership. The business development team will close out 2017 with trips to New Orleans and Chicago with the goal of increasing prospect and lead generation through site consultant meetings and direct company meetings.
