Brotherhood Mutual

It’s fitting that the corporate headquarters of Brotherhood Mutual is located in Fort Wayne, the “City of Churches.” Whether it’s through offering innovative property or liability coverage, commercial auto and worker’s comp, providing risk management guidance or helping to navigate today’s complex legal issues, Brotherhood Mutual has a desire to help ministries thrive.

Founded in 1917, Brotherhood Mutual is a national property and casualty insurance company that serves more than 60,000 ministries in 47 states and the District of Columbia. Brotherhood Mutual has 485 employees and works with 476 independent agents in 111 agencies nationwide. As a specialty insurer, Brotherhood Mutual serves Christian churches, schools, colleges, camps and related ministries.

In 2018, more than 12,000 customers were able to rebuild damaged or destroyed buildings, replace stolen property, pay medical bills, defend against lawsuits and much more after experiencing losses during the year.

In addition to offering insurance designed for ministry, Brotherhood Mutual also insure mission travelers, extending service around the globe. And MinstryWorks by Brotherhood Mutual is America’s largest payroll processing and payroll tax filing service for Christian ministries.

For the company, calling Northeast Indiana “home” has been a blessing for more than a century. This not only has been the right place for Brotherhood Mutual’s corporate headquarters, but Northeast Indiana has the right talent. With millennials accounting for 137 of 485 employees, it’s more important than ever that Brotherhood Mutual continue to draw and retain young people to the area, and that Northeast Indiana’s infrastructure continues to be one that allows businesses to thrive.

Brotherhood Mutual is excited to be among the corporate leaders collaborating throughout the region to keep the business climate strong and to invigorate community development.
