Response to COVID-19 Challenges Land Fort Wayne, Northeast Indiana in National Media Spotlight
Shareable, Assembly Magazine Highlight Regional Stories
The Northeast Indiana Regional Partnership has pivoted in our national public relations strategy in response to COVID-19 and national media is paying attention to Northeast Indiana and Fort Wayne. Some of our key story themes continue to be relevant despite the pandemic challenges, and in other cases, we’ve put topics on the back burner and changed course. We are continually seeking and promoting stories of Northeast Indiana companies and leaders who have risen to the COVID-19 challenge in unique ways, and we have found interest from several media outlets as we continue to pitch new stories.
Through national public relations firm Development Counsellors International (DCI), we recently worked with Shareable and Assembly Magazine to place stories in these national media outlets.
Shareable reporter Kristi Eaton interviewed Kelly Lundberg with the City of Fort Wayne and discussed how cities are transforming in the face of COVID-19. The article also showcased a variety of examples from different locations around the world—including Fort Wayne. The section of the article about Fort Wayne highlights the city’s efforts to help individuals who are experiencing homelessness by utilizing CARES Act funding. The article includes a quote from Fort Wayne Mayor Tom Henry. It was also shared on Twitter and Facebook by the Shareable accounts. Shareable is a nonprofit news hub that focuses on the sharing transformation—a movement to solve today’s biggest challenges.
Assembly Magazine included Transformations Furniture in a roundup titled, “Manufacturers Shift to PPE Production to Fight COVID-19 Pandemic.” The article highlights 12 manufacturing pivots that companies have made in recent months as the COVID-19 pandemic continues to impact the country. The piece details how Transformations Furniture has shifted focus to produce Personal Air-Purifying Respirator Hoods and surgical gowns. The company is featured alongside companies including GM and Boeing. Additionally, the article was featured prominently on Assembly’s homepage. Assembly Magazine is a monthly print magazine and digital publication that reaches manufacturing engineers, design engineers and plant managers. The magazine also includes new product listings, developments in the technology of product assembly and general industry news.
So far in 2020, the Regional Partnership generated 58 million national media impressions for the region. We’re glad to start 2020 strong from a media relations standpoint, and we look forward to delivering more results for Northeast Indiana this year.
