Internship Resources for Northeast Indiana Employers

A study done by Battelle Technology Partnership Practice reported that one work experience opportunity increases a student’s likelihood of living in Indiana after graduation to 58 percent. Four work experience opportunities increase that likelihood to 75 percent. Clearly, it takes more than one internship to make a community like Northeast Indiana "sticky."

As Northeast Indiana competes globally for talent, we know we must develop, attract and retain the talent needed to support our growing economy. Connecting Northeast Indiana employers with free talent development resources is key to a successful business and a competitive regional economy.

1. Work & Learn Indiana

The program links employers, learners, high schools, colleges and universities. It is a dynamic, searchable database, matching and reporting system that also provides resources and guidance on work-based learning opportunities. The goal is to help create or expand high-quality experiential opportunities within Indiana.

2. Northeast Indiana Works

Northeast Indiana Works, the region’s non-profit workforce development organization, provides public and private financial and employment resources for education and skills training to meet the needs of regional industries.

Regional Internship Program Retired in 2022

In 2022, the Northeast Indiana Regional Partnership officially sunsetted the Regional Internship Program for Employers. For years, we met with hundreds of organizations across Northeast Indiana to bolster and even launch internship programs at businesses around the 11 county region. 

What we learned through that experience is that Northeast Indiana employers are committed to building successful talent development and internship programs. Although we’ll miss convening hundreds of students from around the world at the successful Professional Development Series, employers today are in good hands with the tremendous resources available from numerous organizations in Indiana.
