CSC seeks tax abatement

CSC-Indiana LLC has asked for a tax abatement for a $2.4 million investment in new machinery at its New Haven plant.
The company, a manufacturer of corrugated paper, plans to have the equipment installed at its plant at 2190 Summit St. The move will create an additional six full-time jobs, according to the abatement application. It currently employs 86.
The new equipment will take narrow rolls of paper and glue them together to make a full-size roll, making use of a lower cost raw material and making corrugating equipment more efficient, the application states.
Equipment installation is expected in the spring, and the application also says the average salary for the new jobs is $50,000. Jobs carry paid vacation and holidays. Other benefits include sick leave and a pension plan, plus health, dental, vision and life insurance.
The company is requesting an abatement that would save it about $150,000 in taxes over 10 years.
