Joseph Decuis to open restaurant at Electric Works
The team behind one of Indiana’s most awarded restaurants plans to bring its unique farm-to-fork experience to Electric Works.
Joseph Decuis on Thursday announced plans to locate a more casual version of its fine-dining restaurant at Electric Works. While the restaurant’s official name and identity are still being developed, it will carry the Joseph Decuis brand and feature an extensive wine list and creative, unique menu built around the restaurant’s renowned Wagyu beef.
The establishment will play a foundational role in the food hall and public market at Electric Works, as well as its mission to bring healthier, more affordable food to Fort Wayne.
“We see Electric Works as a unique opportunity to build an experience around culinary immersion, nutrition and education,” explained Pete Eshelman, who co-owns Joseph Decuis along with his wife, Alice Eshelman, and brother, Tim Eshelman. “Our vision is for an experience that brings the very best of Joseph Decuis - locally raised ingredients, exclusive Wagyu beef and unparalleled service - in a more casual environment, all while collaborating with local organizations to drive better health and wellness throughout our community and region.”
Joseph Decuis was initially founded in 1996 as a private dining facility for a sport and entertainment insurance company the Eshelmans were running at the time; the restaurant opened to the public in 2000. Today, in addition to the restaurant, the company’s properties include the Joseph Decuis Wagyu Farm, a fully operational farm where it raises its own Wagyu with traditional Japanese husbandry practices; the Emporium, a retail store in Roanoke; the Farmstead Inn, a country inn located at the Wagyu Farm; and the Inn at Joseph Decuis, a bed-and-breakfast located in Roanoke.
