Purdue University Fort Wayne students will soon have a new advanced degree option. The school is creating a master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology, which has been approved by the Purdue University Board of Trustees.

This will be the first graduate program offered by the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders, which is included in the College of Arts and Sciences.

"This is huge for our program,” said Stacy Betz, Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders. "Students who want to practice speech-language pathology are required to have a master’s degree. Now they will have the opportunity to pursue that degree right here at Purdue Fort Wayne.”

The program still needs approval from the Indiana Commission for Higher Education along with accreditation by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and the Indiana Department of Education.
