Northeast Indiana’s higher education institutions produce 8,500 graduates annually from programs related to the region’s target sectors – and they make sure that talent is coming to you.
Northeast Indiana Works is the region’s workforce development organization, providing employment services and access to training for employers and workers in 11 counties. The nonprofit oversees WorkOne Northeast career centers in those counties, as well as two regional youth development programs, and leads or contributes to talent pipeline development initiatives. Services offered to Northeast Indiana employers include customized recruitment/hiring events, applicant screening and assessment activities, access to training for existing and prospective workers, job postings on various platforms, digital skills workshops, and labor market information.
In short, Northeast Indiana Works and its business services representatives act as support to your human resources team.
In addition to quickly reaching private industry, there are more than 200,000 graduates from Tier 1 and Tier 2 universities within 200 miles of Northeast Indiana, with major universities like Notre Dame, Purdue University, Indiana University Bloomington, Michigan State University and The Ohio State University all nearby. The region boasts a wide array of career and technical programs, including the Northeast Indiana Colleges and Universities Network, a consortium of 10 institutions harnessing their collective 40,000 enrolled students to feed to the specific talent needs of companies and create custom training programs to fill gaps.

Northeast Indiana is officially designated as the inaugural 21st Century Talent Region by Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb. By taking a comprehensive, systems approach, a participating region will identify strategic priorities and projects aimed at helping its communities create a better quality of place, develop and skill up its workforce, and connect talented Hoosiers with businesses seeking to fill high-demand, high-wage jobs.

Northeast Indiana’s 11 counties, along with 22 other national Talent Hubs selected in 2017 and 2018, meet rigorous standards for creating environments that cultivate, attract and retain talent, particularly among today’s students, many of whom are adults, Black, Hispanic, or Native American, students from low-income households, or the first in their families to go to college.
