You’ve likely heard it many times or seen it written online.
“There’s nothing to do in Northeast Indiana.”
If you still believe that, then you’re really missing out!
We made it our mission this summer to combat that sentiment and show off the many things to do in our region, especially during the summer.
If you want just a little taste of what there is to do, then go to our blog or Instagram to find out what we were up to. We were all over the summer festival scene this year. We didn’t go to every single festival, but we had our fill.
This summer, we highlighted the BBQ Ribfest, The Vintage Baseball Showcase, Middle Waves Music Festival, the Big Fort Fest, Angola Balloons Aloft, and the Mac & Cheese Fest.
The Ribfest was the first festival on the docket, and we were able to get a tremendous interview with Big Baby from Cowboys BBQ in Texas. His big personality was infectious and made you want to go back for more ribs.
Middle Waves was a blast. Each band brought their own unique sound, and all of them brought constant energy that had Headwaters Park bouncing.
The weather didn’t cooperate enough for me to ride in a hot air balloon during Angola Balloons Aloft. However, we were able to get some incredible shots of the balloons that were able to lift off. Additionally, I got to get a first-hand look at what it takes to get a balloon off the ground.
Finally, the Mac & Cheese Fest was a hit personally because I tried 11 (which is way too many) different mac and cheeses and rated them.
I know now that I don’t have any excuse to say there isn’t anything to do in Northeast Indiana because my summer was filled with things to do, and I didn’t even get to everything.
Northeast Indiana really shines in the summer, but that doesn’t mean the events and festivals stop when the weather cools down.
There are things to do. Go find them.
