Meet the Companies Growing the Medical Device Industry
In 2021, developer of sustainable single-use instrument technologies, RAZOR Medical Instruments, Inc., announced plans to relocate its headquarters from New Hampshire to Warsaw, Indiana. The new headquarters brings a $3.4 million investment to Northeast Indiana and an estimated 63 new jobs. RAZOR’s first product in the market is a Single-Use Acetabular Reamer, a sharp and sterile tool used in hip replacement procedures. Thanks to a recent $2 million in funding, RAZOR expects to expand its products to serve surgeons performing knee and shoulder replacements.
With a strong foundation in the medical device field, Northeast Indiana is home to a lot of firsts. Warsaw-based OrthoPediatrics is the first medical device company to focus solely on pediatric orthopedic care. A producer of screws, plates and nails designed specifically for children, OrthoPediatrics is guided by a passion to ‘help children whose lives have been impacted by orthopedic conditions’. OrthoPediatrics provides life-saving tools to orthopedic surgeons specializing in pediatric trauma, deformity correction, scoliosis and more.
When developing medical devices, Nextremity Solutions, Inc. believes in the importance of working in tandem with surgeons to create products that serve the needs of patients across the world. Founded in 2007, the musculoskeletal product development company has distributed more than 238,000 sterile implant systems across the world. Nextremity also expanded its presence in Northeast Indiana by opening a new 69,479 square-foot facility in Warsaw, with plans to hire 100+ new employees by 2024. In early 2022, Medartis, a Swiss-based orthopedic company for head and extremity surgery, announced its intent to acquire Nextremity Solutions Inc.
