The state of Indiana was named the third top state for infrastructure by CNBC, with Northeast Indiana providing access to three aquatic ports, seven U.S. highways, more than 20 state roads, four rail services and Fort Wayne International Airport, which handles 22 million pounds of cargo annually. Where Businesses Grow

In Northeast Indiana, 78% of the total land area is made up of rich farmland, making it a prime location for food and agriculture companies like Miller Poultry, Dreyer’s Grand Ice Cream and Kraft Heinz. The food and agriculture industry accounts for more than 14,000 regional jobs (8% above the national average), represents nearly the entire food-delivery chain and contributes $31.2 billion to the state’s annual gross domestic product (GDP). Northeast Indiana alone produces $2 billion in farm products annually. Indiana is one of the top five states in the nation for corn, soybean and ice cream production, and boasts a total value of $10 billion for crops and livestock sold.

Innovation runs deep in Northeast Indiana, with two of the nation’s largest orthopedic suppliers founded in Warsaw–DePuy Synthes, the first orthopedic manufacturing business in the world and orthopedic arm of Johnson & Johnson, and Zimmer Biomet, a global leader in musculoskeletal healthcare headquartered in Warsaw with locations in more than 25 countries.

Specialty Insurance Magnet of the U.S.

Northeast Indiana is where a ripe business environment primed for opportunity in the specialty insurance industry meets top talent. As the industry continues to expand, specialty insurance employers of varying product lines flock to Northeast Indiana to find success.
