Junior Research & Data Analyst

Overview
The Junior Research & Data Analyst plays an active role managing and fulfilling research requests in collaboration with the Senior Research & Data Analyst, Research Interns and other team members, as applicable, in line with NEI’s mission to drive business investment and strengthen the region’s global competitiveness and economic resiliency.
Who We're Looking For
This individual enjoys and is competent performing social science research. They are proficient at data analysis and visualization, both quantitative and qualitative, and are familiar with a variety of sources of economic, demographic, and other data. They stay abreast of current local, domestic and global macroeconomic trends and aware of new data sources and products. They are customer service oriented and adept at collaborating with internal team members and external stakeholders.
Key Tasks
- Research, collect, organize and analyze economic data from various sources as directed.
- Adhere to the organization’s quantitative and qualitative data collection protocols, standards, and processes.
- Proactively research new data sources and develop new analytical approaches.
- Support the development of compelling business cases to further business development objectives and industry cluster development strategies.
- Interface with community members to facilitate collection and assembly of relevant information with clients.
- Provide research support to internal teams.
- Track latest developments in economic development and innovation policies.
- Develop financial and economic impact modeling and conduct analysis.
- Create data visualizations and maps.
- Write concise and effective briefs, reports, white papers and presentations.
- Deliver presentations and reports verbally to management.
- Manage multiple research projects simultaneously without missing delivery deadlines.
Qualifications
- BA/BS degree or higher in economics, business, public policy, urban and regional planning, or related fields is required.
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365, particularly Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and SharePoint.
- Familiarity with GIS, Python, R and/or economic and fiscal modeling preferred.
- Familiarity with common economic demographic and other data sources.
- One year of relevant professional experience.
- Strong organization, analysis, and visualization skills.
- Work within a team of both full-time staff and interns to complete projects and assure accuracy in reporting.
- Proficient with quantitative and qualitative research design and techniques.
- Highly motivated self-starter who works well independently and with teams in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written) with customers; asks questions to best meet needs.
- Strong tendency to document workflow and any applicable metadata.
- Sense of urgency to meet or exceed goals.
- Professional demeanor at all times.
