Get to Know DeKalb County
The City of Garrett is known for its comfortable, small-town living without all the headaches of big city living. Garrett is the fastest growing community, per capita, in DeKalb County and boasts over 15 new subdivisions, totaling over 508 new residential homes, in the past 15 years. Garrett offers residents' safe neighborhoods, great schools, proactive police and fire departments, hardworking city departments, great small and local businesses and many churches.
With a big heart for knitting the community together, civic, business and non-profit leaders and organizations assist with many local functions and community-wide activities. Thanks to the local garden club, historical downtown Garrett features beautiful flowers and curb appeal.
Garrett's six parks and popular city pool are favorite places for many families during the warm weather months. The Garrett Public Library, an original Carnegie building, is also a shining asset in the community. The city also celebrates other exciting community assets like museums, the outdoor Auburn-Garrett Drive-In Theatre, golf courses, restaurants, the Sacred Heart Grotto and the J.A.M. Recreation Center!
