Venture to Huntington, Indiana, a mid-sized Northeast Indiana city founded on the beautiful banks of the Wabash and Little Rivers. In Huntington, residents and visitors can roam the historic streets that sprung forth from the rise of canals and railroads in the past century and experience the best this community has to offer. Huntington was catapulted to the limelight in the ’80s when Huntington local, Dan Quayle, was elected Vice President., and still today, Huntington is known for the Quayle Vice Presidential Learning Center.
History is an important part of Huntington County's story. At Forks of the Wabash Historic Park, residents and visitors alike can discover how the Miami and early settlers lived. Still today, the Huntington Drive-in operates regularly as a favorite family summertime tradition!
Many residents and visitors naturally gravitate to the historic downtown for the unique shops and boutiques. People are encouraged to sip on sodas from Antiqology, the midwest’s largest distributor of craft sodas, to stock up on their favorites and shop for vintage items.
In downtown Huntington, local eateries offer amazing culinary delights. From fantastic steaks at the Brick House to originals at the Rusty Dog such as the salmon BLT, Huntington is a foodies paradise. People pilgrimage from all over the country to eat at Nick’s Kitchen, who was featured on the Travel Channel’s “Pork Paradises” show and featured in Bon Appetite for their sugar cream pie. For those willing to take a short drive out of downtown Huntington, the Bee Hive Shop on U.S. 9 is a fantastic, unique business to visit on the way to Salamonie Reservoir. They have over 200 hives and sell honey and honey-related products in their farm shop.
