Sonya started with the Northeast Indiana Regional Partnership in February 2014 as the Millennial 2020 Specialist leading the Emerging Leaders Alliance. She is now a Project Manager and oversees our work-based learning initiatives such as the Regional Internship Program for Employers, 21st Century Talent Regions, and the Strengths Network to name a few.
Sonya has witnessed a dramatic positive change in the region, which has inspired her community- and talent-development work with young professionals.
Sonya’s favorite job is being a dog-mom and cuddling with her pitbulls, Norma and Lucius.
Sonya attended South Side High School in Fort Wayne and graduated from Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW) with a bachelor’s degree in interpersonal communication and media and public communication. She also holds a master’s degree in professional communication from IPFW.
Sonya teaches a speech course at Purdue Fort Wayne. Sonya serves on the board of the Positive Resource Connection, a nonprofit that provides HIV education, prevention, testing, and linkage to care persons living with HIV/AIDS, their families, and loved ones. She has also served as a Big Sister through Big Brothers Big Sisters for the past six years.

- When not working or volunteering in the community, Sonya spends her time on the trails running and exploring the outdoors.
- Sonya’s favorite job is being a dog-mom and cuddling with her pitbulls, Norma and Lucius.
- Sonya enjoys traveling around the world to explore new cultures. In recent years she’s been to China, Norway, Spain, and France.
- Sonya’s love language is cooking. She spends her Sunday’s cooking for her friends and family. To her, there is nothing better than sharing a meal with those that you love.
