Ashby Drummond joined NEI in October of 2022. His primary responsibilities include the execution of internal and external data requests, conducting economic research, performing data analysis, and creating data visualizations to facilitate the team’s strategic utilization of data for enhancing economic development within the region. Ashby employs tools such as Excel, Tableau, and R-Studio to complete his tasks. He dedicates substantial effort to staying current with micro and macroeconomic trends and closely monitors reliable data source updates.

Ashby earned dual Bachelor of Arts degrees in Economics and Psychology from the University of Cincinnati. During his time at the university, he demonstrated his commitment to philanthropy and leadership by running and organizing initiatives like Mission 22 and UC Dance Marathon. Additionally, Ashby was an active member of two honorific societies and engaged in student government activities. His passion lies in harnessing data and analytics to support decision-making processes that foster growth across the 11-county region. Furthermore, he is in the final stages of completing his MBA with a specialization in Data Analytics at Purdue University Fort Wayne. His core competencies encompass regression analysis, predictive analytics, and data visualization.

A Fort Wayne native, Ashby is a proud graduate of Leo High School. Sports have played an integral role in his life, as he grew up playing golf and basketball. Notably, he achieved the distinction of being a 4-time All-Conference athlete and an Individual Sectional Champion in golf. His dedication to golf continued at the University of Cincinnati, where he was a member of the 2021 NCCGA National Championship-winning team and achieved under-par scores in over 50% of his rounds during his club golf career.

Beyond his academic and sports pursuits, Ashby has also contributed to his community through his involvement with Big Brothers Big Sisters and his unwavering support for child literacy and reading programs.

  • Ashby is a diehard fan of Liverpool FC and FC Cincinnati as well as the USWNT.
