21 laid off at ITT Exelis

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) 21 Fort Wayne workers learned that they were being laid off on Wednesday.
 
According to Tim White, Communications Manager at ITT Exelis Fort Wayne, the job cuts are due to a slowdown in government projects. White said the market is slow and very competitive at the moment.
 
The employees were given a two-week notice and will receive a severance package based on their years of service. Outplacement assistance will also be provided to for job placement support and other help.
 
ITT Exelics designs and makes equipment for the defense department and has about 20,000 employees around the country.
