30 new cold-storage jobs planned for Woodburn

A $22.75 million project is expected to bring 30 new jobs to Wooburn.
P&B Cold Storage is seeking a tax abatement on a project that would see $20 million in real estate improvements at 23288 Roemer Drive on vacant land in Woodburn Industrial Park, along with the purchase of about $2.75 million in logistical and information technology equipment. Construction is expected to start next month on the planned 192,695-square-foot refrigerated warehouse.
The company currently employs about 40 people. The new jobs will pay about $18 an hour.
Abatements temporarily reduce taxes payable on building improvements and new equipment. Woodburn City Council gave preliminary approval April 16 and will hold a public hearing on the request May 7.
