$500,000 matching grant offered for Fort Wayne Parks Foundation’s riverfront development fund drive
The Fort Wayne Parks Foundation voted Monday to launch a fund drive to raise $1.5 million to pay a portion of the construction costs for Phase I if the downtown Fort Wayne riverfront development project, and Community Foundation of Greater Fort Wayne agreed to offer up to $500,000 in a matching grant.
The matching grant will give the parks foundation $2 for every $1 it raises, the Community Foundation said in a news release.
“The Community Foundation is pleased to continue our support for riverfront development,” said David Bennett, the foundation's executive director. “This is an exciting project, and we want to do what we can to help make it a success.”
The Community Foundation has been active in seeking private donations for riverfront development, raising more than $4 million so far from local individuals and businesses, the news release said.
