C&A Tool achieves premier supplier recognition

CHURUBUSCO, Ind. (March 19, 2012) – Locally based C&A Tool Engineering (“C&A Tool”) announced today that the company has been awarded the Premier Supplier Award from Bell Helicopter, an industry leader in the development and production of helicopters and vertical lift aircraft.

“This award recognizes the commitment of our team members to the highest standards of quality and on-time delivery, said C&A Founder & CEO Dick Conrow, “We are now positioned to work closely with industry leaders like Bell Helicopter on existing and future programs.”

Bell Helicopter, which has delivered more than 35,000 aircraft to commercial and military customers around the world, utilizes its Premier Supplier Award to identify and recognize suppliers that contribute to significant improvements in quality of products and quantity of production. To qualify for Premier status, a supplier must achieve AS 9100 certification, consistently deliver high-quality materials on a minimum 98% frequency rate, and score very highly on a cross-functional, on-site inspection conducted by a specialized team from Bell Helicopter. Bell Helicopter seeks to award 80% of the company’s purchases to Premier Suppliers. As a result of this achievement, C&A Tool will now receive bid advantages on classified and non-classified parts production, which includes flight safety, flight critical, and primary parts.

C&A Tool has invested greatly in the company’s capabilities in recent years. In 2011, the company added equipment to support new business for the jet engine, power generation, and industrial markets. New equipment will feature large turning and milling capabilities; examples include a CNC lathe (41” diameter x 128” length), Vertical Turning and Milling (63” diameter x 43” height), and Boring Mill (70” x 118” x 70” travel). In addition, the company has expanded its high volume precision fuel system capabilities to support expanding diesel engine demand. This technology complements existing operations, helping to reinforce C&A as an industry leader in the metalworking trade.

Established in 1969 as a premier tool and die maker, C&A Tool has become a national and international supplier of metalworking specialties and now has approximately 540 fulltime employees and 750,000 SF of manufacturing space at facilities in the Churubusco area and in Auburn (IN).
