County, city to hire consultant to study downtown arena

WANE Staff Reports

FORT WAYNE, Ind.

The Allen County-Fort Wayne Capital Improvement Board will shop for a consultant to study the proposed downtown arena.

The board on Thursday adopted a resolution that moves forward the process of hiring a consultant to examine the function, design and preliminary cost estimates of a potential downtown arena.

The Capital Improvement Board has agreed to fund the study, at the request of the Allen County Commissioners and the Fort Wayne Mayor Tom Henry.

Capital Improvement Board President Nancy Jordan called the resolution “the next logical step in the process of considering the arena’s potential benefit for our area. The board agreed to manage an analysis of the feasibility.”

As a part of the resolution, a committee was established to develop the Request for Proposal, review responses, and make formal recommendations to the Capital Improvement Board regarding the consultant to be engaged.

The committee includes representatives of the Capital Improvement Board, Allen County and the City of Fort Wayne.
