Fort Wayne’s Dupont Hospital tied for third in Indiana in hospital safety ratings compiled by Consumer Reports magazine.

The ratings, which spanned the nation, were based on patient experience, readmissions, appropriate use of scanning, infections and complications. The data, according to Consumer Reports, came from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.

Dupont had a safety rating of 66. The top rating — 68 — went to Schneck Medical Center in Seymour.

Other ratings: Lutheran Hospital, 54; St. Joseph Hospital, 52; and Parkview Hospital, 51.

Dupont, Lutheran and St. Joseph are part of the Lutheran Health Network.

Consumer Reports said the average rating among the more than 2,000 hospitals for which it compiled data was 49.
