According to applications for tax "phase ins" to be considered by City Council Tuesday, Ellison Bakery, will invest $1.85 million in new equipment for its plant at 4108 W. Ferguson Road, creating 16 jobs with an average salary of $30,152.

Ellison Bakery, founded in 1945, makes cookies and other baked good, with sales of about $21.3 million last year. The upgrade is needed, the company states, because "production equipment can quickly become obsolete as new processes, regulations and consumer demands arise." The phase in would save the company $85,745 in taxes over seven years.
