COLUMBIA CITY -

The joint venture between Columbia City-based Ultra Electronics Holdings plc and Illinois-based Sparton Corp. (NYSE: SPA) has been awarded contracts worth more than $100 million. The contracts call for ERAPSCO Inc. to manufacture sonobuoys for the United States Navy.

ERAPSCO will award a $46.8 million subcontract to Ultra Electronics USSI for production at its Columbia City facility. Sparton De Leon Springs LLC will receive a $54.3 million subcontract for production at its De Leon Springs, Florida facility.

"I am pleased that we have secured this important contract that will continue to provide critical sensor capabilities to the US Navy," said Rakesh Sharma, chief executive officer of Ultra Electronics. "This contract is a reflection of the increased focus on anti-submarine warfare and the U.S. Navy’s commitment to providing key technology for this important mission."

The work is expected to be completed by September 2017.
