FORT WAYNE, Ind. (21ALIVE) - The Fort Wayne Cultural District is setting out to make downtown a vibrant place to be.

The group, along with Arts United, the Downtown Improvement District, and Visit Fort Wayne rolled out a platform of action for the community Thursday night at the Embassy Theatre.

The four groups conducted a year-long survey asking the public what they would like to see in downtown. They're in the process of developing some initiatives like a full season public market and a culinary institute. IPFW's "Sculptures With Purpose" is one example of the art initiatives in the city.

"We want to encourage people to experience art and discover downtown. Fort Wayne is a community that is just rich with activities and organizations and resources, and so the Fort Wayne cultural district was formed to encourage more of these kinds of activities and to encourage people to learn what there is here," the Director of Community Development of Arts United, Dan Ross, said.
