Five projects chosen for next Amplify Art! Campaign Session

The Journal Gazette

FORT WAYNE, IN – A hip hop history celebration from the African/African American Historical Society Museum, Fort Wayne Museum of Art “Meet Me at the Museum” tour for Alzheimer’s disease patients, a new tree for the Fort Wayne Ballet’s performance of the Nutcracker, Artlink’s public art mural on the side of Firefly Coffee House and integration of art into the Fort4Fitness are the five projects chosen for the next Amplify Art! session, beginning May 1, 2016 and ending May 31, 2016.

Amplify Art! is a social media based crowdfunding program that mobilizes community support for and awareness of diverse creative projects happening in Northeast Indiana. Amplify Art! is made possible with support from the Community Foundation of Greater Fort Wayne and the Knight Foundation.

Community members can support the five selected projects during the month of May through social media advocacy and donating online at www.artsunited.org/amplify. Each project is seeded with $1,000 from Arts United, and donations from the public are matched dollar for dollar up to $1,500 with support from the Knight Foundation. By leveraging the seed funding and matching incentive to raise broad community support, participating organizations can receive $4,000 or more for arts projects. The previous two Amplify Art! campaign sessions raised a total of $20,895 towards arts and culture projects in Northeast Indiana, including upcoming projects such as Riverfront Fort Wayne’s Faces of the Fort and the Embassy Theatre’s Summer Nights at the Embassy.

“The results of the last two campaigns were huge successes, and the most special part about their realization is that it couldn’t have happened without the support of the community,” said Rena Burden, Director of Development at Arts United. “Community members not only get to be a part of the decision making when it comes to arts and culture projects, but they also invest in making Northeast Indiana a more bold, exciting place to live. It’s a powerful campaign, and we can’t wait to see how the community rallies together again to make these projects happen!”
