Fort Wayne Community Schools program helps students prep for college, career
Fort Wayne Community Schools will offer a free, four-week program to help students in high school and seventh and eighth grades prepare for college or a career after high school.
The program will be offered on consecutive Saturdays from Oct. 22 through Nov. 12 at the FWCS Family and Community Engagement Center, 230 E. Douglas Ave. High school students will attend from 9 a.m. to noon and seventh- and eighth-graders from 1 to 3 p.m.
Topics include, Oct, 22, "Exploring your passion," including preparing for college and future careers; Oct. 29, "Financial literacy," including the 21st Century Scholars program and, for high school students, completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA); Nov. 5, co-curricular engagement for middle schoolers and college visit for high schoolers; and Nov. 12, developing a portfolio and etiquette for middle schoolers, and the college and job applications process for high schoolers.
