Fort Wayne deep rock tunnel meeting planned
Area residents are invited to learn more about Fort Wayne's deep rock tunnel at a community forum Monday in the auditorium of the downtown Allen County Public Library. The event starts at 6 p.m. and provides attendees access to hands on displays that include bedrock samples taken more than 150 feet below the earth’s surface. A presentation will begin at around 6:15 p.m. followed by a panel of engineers and geologists who will take questions. The tunnel is a major component of the city’s agreement with the U.S. Department of Justice and the Environmental Protection Agency to reduce combined sewer overflows into the rivers. Construction will begin in 2017.
