Fort Wayne Metals commits $1 million to training partnership

Ivy Tech is honoring Fort Wayne Metals, 9609 Ardmore Ave., as one of six “College Corporate Partners” in the state. The company has committed $1 million to its training program with Ivy Tech.
In a news release, Ivy Tech Community College said its Corporate College delivers training programs for Fort Wayne Metals, which include technical certificates, leadership programs and quality certifications. The company and Ivy Tech will train more than 200 production employees in the advanced manufacturing certificate program and other types of training and certification.
The company is setting aside $700,000 for training expenses and $300,000 toward employee salary incentives, according to Ivy Tech.
Employees enrolled in the program will benefit by an increase in pay for each course they complete with a grade of C or above, according to the school.
FWM CEO Scott Glaze and Ivy Tech–Northeast Chancellor Jerrilee Mosier are credited with formalizing this training partnership. One year after the initial conversations about it, the training has begun onsite at one of FWM's properties. Most, if not all, courses will be taught at this site. There are about 75 employees participating in the initial two courses now.
