A Fort Wayne-born Olympic volleyball star has announced plans for new volleyball facility in Angola. Lloy Ball, a four-time Olympian who won a gold medal with the USA Men's National Team in 2008, says the proposed Ball Sports Academy will serve as the new home for his northeast Indiana organization, Team Pineapple Volleyball Club.

Ball tells The Journal Gazette in Fort Wayne the Steuben County facility will be 25,000 square-feet and be complete sometime next year. It will include three volleyball courts, a Parkview Sports Medicine physical therapy office and a weight room. He tells the publication the BSA is expected to host 20-30 events per year and provide an economic boost to Angola.

Ball is the son of legendary IPFW men's volleyball coach Arnie Ball, for whom he played in college as an All-American and multiple Midwest Intercollegiate Volleyball Association Player of the Year honoree for the Mastodons.
