WABASH, Ind. (21Alive) - A Northeast Indiana aluminum has laid off of more than 100 workers as the company starts the new year.

Harvey Industries LLC notified the Indiana Department of Workforce Development on Jan. 2 that it laid off 143 workers at the plant effective New Year's Eve.

Harvey claims "unforseen business circumstances" as the reason for the layoffs, which company officials say will be temporary and should not last more than 5 months.

Harvey, based out of Livonia, Mich., specializes in casting, machining, assembly and testing aluminum.
