Mayor Brooks Fetters provided an update on projects that are ongoing in the city during the Lime City Economic Development Committee meeting Friday.

Fetters said the Etna Avenue project is three months ahead of schedule and is expected to be completed by the end of August.

“The project involves storm drainage, new curb and gutters and a trail going out to Horace Mann,” he explained.

Asphalt will be poured next week on the east side of the area and then the west side will be worked on.

Another project underway is on Old 24. Fetters said the area is a key gateway to the community. That project will be completed the end of June.

“We have been focusing on the appearance and aesthetics of our gateways,” Fetters said.

The project calls for a bike path from First Street to Lake Clare. Trees will be planted along the route, which will also be resurfaced and have improved drainage.

The UB Block building is undergoing interior demolition, Fetters said. Exterior rehab will occur in the next month. The property is located on East Franklin Street west of Warren Street.

The finished project will include market-rate housing, artist studios, a gallery and space for Huntington University’s Center for Entrepreneurship.
