A range of industries will have representatives at an Aug. 2 job fair hosted by U.S. Rep. Jim Banks, R-3rd, in cooperation with Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne and WorkOne Northeast.
The Congressman Jim Banks Job Fair scheduled for noon to 3 p.m. in IPFW’s International Ballroom also will feature regional post-secondary education institutions.
“This job fair will be beneficial to local employers and Hoosiers looking for work,” Banks said in a statement. “I’m honored to have the opportunity to connect Hoosiers with good-paying jobs and pleased to host the fair in conjunction with IPFW and WorkOne Northeast.
Industries from agriculture, education, manufacturing and government to health care, social assistance, retail and finance and insurance will have representatives at the event scouting the talent pool there.
“The university is proud to continue our partnership hosting the job fair for the seventh year,” IPFW Chancellor Vicky Carwein said in the statement
“We recognize that many employers across the state are having trouble hiring people for unfilled positions and this job fair is just one effort the university is undertaking to help meet employer needs.”
Resume and job interview assistance will be available at the event from WorkOne Northeast, which is overseen by Northeast Indiana Works.
The assistance will include tips for job seekers on crafting an attention-getting resume, making themselves memorable to employers, skillfully developing conversations to highlight qualifications and strengths, and job interview follow-up.
“Strategic preparation is the key to a successful job search,” Edmond O’Neal, president of Northeast Indiana Works, said in the statement. “And for those unable to attend the job fair, WorkOne Northeast’s career centers offer free job search assistance and job search-related workshops.”
