ASHLEY — The Ashley Town Council has granted a 10-year tax abatement to K-CoPack, a full-service, custom packaging company established in 2010.

K-CoPack general manager Chris Peterson said the present facility has reached full capacity and that an expansion for a new warehouse will facilitate new customer demand. K-CoPack will invest $698,700 to construct a 23,500-square-foot warehouse.

Peterson said due to business growth, the company has added two new positions in 2012 and plans to add up to four jobs in the next year or two. The company currently has 13 employees.

“The town council is glad for the opportunity to help K-CoPack with their warehouse expansion plans. They have been an excellent corporate citizen,” said Randy McEntarfer, Ashley Town Council vice president.

“Passing of the abatement promotes continued growth for the company and will increase the footprint of K-CoPack in the Ashley community,” said Ken McCrory, executive director for the DeKalb County Economic Development Partnership, who spoke in favor of the tax abatement.

K-CoPack operates at 101 S. Parker Drive. Current sales for the company are $2.9 million per year.
