Columbia City-based Kissinger Electric has announced plans to build a new facility in the Whitley County city. Financial details were not disclosed, however the Whitley County Economic Development Corp. says the company will also add a small number of jobs.

The new 7,700 square-foot facility will be located within the Park 30 Business Park. Construction is expected to begin in early March and be complete by August.

"As the county continues to grow, we need people in the construction trades who can help us build that future," said Jon Myers, president of the Whitley County EDC. "We are particularly proud to see the continued success of a home-grown family business."

Kissinger Electric was founded in 1978 and currently has 14 employees, with eight more being added with the expansion. The Whitley County Council has approved a 10-year tax abatement for the project.
