New Angola downtown business group forms
A collective of food, beverage and entertainment companies has formed a new downtown Angola business organization.
The group comes together at a time when new development in the downtown is seeing a renewed focus on hospitality.
“This group is currently being known as the Downtown Angola Coalition,” said Maria Davis, Angola’s downtown coordinator.
Currently DAC includes Sutton’s Deli, Brokaw Movie House, Cahoots Coffee Café and Monument Pizza & Pub, which opened April 12.
DAC is looking for other businesses to be a part of this group, Davis said.
“The more the merrier,” she said.
Part of the group’s focus will be planning three special nights of music downtown this summer, one of which will coincide with the July 16 Art is Art Festival. The other music nights are June 3 and Aug. 12. They run 6-9 p.m.
For each of the music night dates, DAC would like downtown businesses to have specials and/or sidewalk sales.
“These events could be entire day experiences for shoppers and visitors,” Davis said.
DAC is asking businesses that would participate to donate $25 or more to help pay for expenses like advertising and the band.
Non-businesses who would like to pitch in may send donations to the city of Angola, 210 N. Public Square, Angola, IN 46703. Write Downtown Angola Coalition in the memo or subject of the check.
