New fiber network set for Fort Wayne

Cleveland-based Everstream has announced plans to invest $300 million to expand its fiber network by nearly 6,000 route miles in the Midwest. The company says the effort will include building new metro fiber networks in Indianapolis and Fort Wayne.

Everstream providers fiber-based Ethernet, Internet, and data center solutions to businesses throughout the Midwest. The company says the fiber network builds will begin in phases later this quarter, with the final build expected to be complete in the second quarter of 2020.

"Everstream remains committed to expanding in contiguous markets while making certain that we maintain the level of service and experience that our customers demand," said Everstream Chief Executive Officer Brett Lindsey. "By proactively building and expanding the footprint of our fiber network, we have the opportunity to both increase the density of our existing fiber routes and increase the availability of our Business Fiber Network to customers."

The network builds will also take place in 10 other markets in Ohio, Kentucky, Michigan, Missouri and Wisconsin. Everstream says the effort is the result of being acquired by Australian global investment manager AMP Capital, which provided the necessary infusion of capital.
