Northeast Indiana Recognized Internationally for Marketing

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Northeast Indiana Regional Partnership received two awards from the International Economic Development Council (IEDC) on October 2. The honor was presented at an awards ceremony during the IEDC Annual Conference held Sept. 29-Oct. 3, in Atlanta.
The Regional Partnership won:
- “Silver Excellence in Economic Development Award” for the Northeast Indiana Jobs and Internships Portal, a project in the category of Special Purpose Website
- “Bronze Excellence in Economic Development Award” for its Northeast Indiana Business Attraction Collateral, in the category of General Purpose Print Brochure
Vice President of Marketing and Strategic Communications Kate Virag said the Regional Partnership is honored to be recognized by the IEDC for the region’s marketing efforts.
“Telling our authentic story through digital and printed marketing materials is critical to selling our region to businesses and talent. Pairing compelling data with narrative imagery and information about quality of life in the region is key to propelling Northeast Indiana toward our goals of increasing per capita personal income, raising education and credential attainment and growing our regional population,” said Virag.
To attract talent and grow the region’s population to 1 million people by 2030, the Regional Partnership launched Northeast Indiana’s Jobs and Internships Portal in April 2017 in collaboration with Northeast Indiana Works, the Indiana Department of Workforce Development and Indiana INTERNnet. The website, build by Reusser Design, offers an easy-to-access, comprehensive place to find available jobs and internships in all of Northeast Indiana’s 11 counties, as well as regional quality of life information. The Jobs Portal addresses the region's talent shortage by showcasing the depth and breadth of Northeast Indiana's job market to attract talent nationally through targeted digital advertising.
The Regional Profile and Target Industry Fliers are the foundational marketing piece for business development, acting as an overview of important information about Northeast Indiana’s strong business climate, including taxes, utilities, target industries, talent pipeline and major regional employers. The brochures are critical to the region’s business development sales process as they help tell an authentic story of each target industry to attract new companies and generate new jobs.
IEDC's Excellence in Economic Development Awards recognize the world's best economic development programs and partnerships, marketing materials and the year's most influential leaders. With 34 awards, the IEDC honors organizations and individuals for their efforts in creating positive change in urban, suburban and rural communities.
"This year our judges reviewed some extraordinary projects that advanced both communities and businesses. We congratulate all the award winners, and thank everyone who nominated their projects for sharing their success with fellow IEDC members. What we learn from each other helps us to grow and advance as a profession. We look forward to even greater participation from economic developers across the globe in the 2019 awards program,” said Craig Richard, CEcD, FM, President and CEO, Tampa Hillsborough Economic Development Corporation, and 2018 IEDC Board Chair.
