One project is nearly done and another major one is on the horizon in Fremont.

Fremont Clerk-Treasurer Kathy Parsons reported to the Fremont Town Council Tuesday work on the Swager Drive water line project is substantially complete.

The intent is to lure development, as Parsons said some companies have expressed an interest in locating there.

The project extends the water line from Swager Drive to the shovel-ready, 150-acre logistics park on the southwest end of town.

Now that the project’s nearly complete, Fremont will now focus on its $3.6 million Water Pollution Control Facility project. The plant will be upgraded and a lift station overhauled.

Bids will be opened at a special meeting Jan. 31, at 4:30 p.m. at the Town Hall.

Construction is expected to take place this summer.
