Physicians Health Plan of Northern Indiana is moving its headquarters to a larger building at the Interstate 69 and Indiana 14/Illinois Road interchange.

The local employee benefits company announced Friday that it’s moving from 8101 W. Jefferson Blvd. to Magnavox Way Corporate Center, 1700 Magnavox Way, about 4 miles northward. PHP’s acquisition of Pro-Claim Plus on Oct. 1 has created a need for more space.

PHP will occupy nearly 45,000 square feet at the corporate center, which is being demolished with the buildout starting this week. The relocation will begin in August and is expected to be complete by February, according to a news release.

The company will have 160 employees moving to the new office space with room for expansion of more employees, said Lea Ann Powers, a spokeswoman. The company built its current headquarters and moved there in 1994. It also has a South Bend office.

PHP will occupy space that is currently vacant on the second level of the corporate center, Powers said. Other tenants already there will remain in the building. Those include General Dynamics, Shared Services Center, Ruoff Mortgage and Fidelity Investments.

In the news release, Don Schenkel, interim president and CEO and longtime board member, said, “This move positions us well for the future as we continue to grow our lines of employee benefits offerings. We also have a strong commitment to live PHP’s mission of service and philanthropy for our community. Relocating all staff under one roof will help our team perform more effectively and efficiently as well as amalgamate our goals and mission.”

PHP’s offerings include:

  • Employee benefits including health, dental, vision, life, and disability
  • Healthcare analytics
  • Human resources and benefits technology
  • Pharmacy benefit management consulting
  • Organizational well-being and engagement
