A Washington-based company has announced plans to add a new manufacturing line at its Columbia City facility. Financial details of the expansion were not disclosed, however Pyrotek Inc. says the addition will retain nearly 60 jobs and add a small number more.

The facility will manufacture Pyrotek's new molten aluminum filtration technology. The Whitley County Economic Development Corp. says the company will invest in new equipment for the facility, which will include lasers and robotics to produce the filters.

"The selection of Pyrotek Columbia City as the manufacturing location for Pyrotek’s new molten aluminum filtration technology is a testament to the sustained excellent performance of our Columbia City team," said Dave Lee, U.S. division manager at Pyrotek. “We are excited about bringing this new technology to market and we appreciate the support we continue to receive from our customers, our local workforce and others like the Whitley County EDC."

The new line will add six jobs to Pyrotek's Columbia City work force. The Whitley County Council and Redevelopment Commission have approved a $15,000 training grant for the company.
