The Northeast Indiana Regional Development Authority awarded its third of four checks to the Riverfront Promenade project during its meeting June 11.
The check, signed by RDA council members Brad Bishop and Bob Marshall and presented to Sandra Odisho from the parks department, will serve as a reimbursement for monies already spent to the tune of just over $1.29 million.
The fourth and final check will be presented, according to Michael Galbraith, director of the Partnership’s Road to One Million, upon the project’s completion.
“We’re incredibly excited about the progress of this project,” Galbraith said. “It’s exciting to see transformative projects that benefit not only downtown Fort Wayne but all around the county, all around the region.”
As completion of the riverfront project nears, a grand opening has been set for Aug. 9-11.
Several Road to One Million projects in the region funded by the authority are pending, including:
- Trine University, Angola, $2.8 million for its Thunder Ice Arena and MTI Center
- DeKalb County YMCA, Auburn, $947,000 for its natatorium and soccer and football field complex
- Kendallville Outdoor Recreation Center, $392,000 for its expansion
- Fishing Line Trail between Rome City and Kendallville, for $171,500
