Regional Partnership Travels to Japan with Gov. Holcomb
FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Northeast Indiana Regional Partnership’s President and CEO John Sampson will join Gov. Eric Holcomb’s delegation of business leaders and economic development officials on a trade mission to Japan Sept. 7-15.
The goal of the trip is to strengthen relationships and encourage continued investment and trade.
“Strengthening our relationships with Japanese companies allows Northeast Indiana to be more competitive in the global marketplace and directly supports our tenacious mission to increase business investment in the region. It is a privilege for the Regional Partnership to represent our region on the Governor’s trade mission,” said Sampson.
The delegation will meet with Japanese government officials, national business chambers and executives of Japanese companies with operations in Indiana, including Subaru, Toyota and Honda. Specifically, the delegation will visit Tokyo, Nagoya and Tochigi Prefecture.
“The Regional Partnership’s participation in Gov. Holcomb’s visit to Japan illustrates the region’s determination to proactively encourage foreign direct investment in our 11 counties,” said Keith Gillenwater, president and CEO of Grow Wabash County.
More than 280 Japanese businesses operate in Indiana, and the state's relationship with Japan is critical to the state’s economy.
