Riverfront Fort Wayne hosts nature walks

Chris Darby | WANE

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) The first of many nature walks along the St. Marys River in downtown Fort Wayne kicked off Sunday. Riverfront Fort Wayne is hosting the walks each month through the summer and into the fall.

Riverfront Fort Wayne’s programs and events focus on the development of the downtown waterway and getting people in the area to connect with the rivers.

About two-dozen people joined in on Sunday’s hour long walk, which started at the historic Wells Street Bridge and featured a tour guide from Fort Wayne Trails. Riverfront Fort Wayne organizers also planned a leisurely-paced 90-minute bike ride.

More Early Bird Nature Walks will be held the first Sunday of each month from May through October.

The events are free to attend and open to all ages.
